Our service
The Rehabilitation centre "Salvation" was organized in 1998. It celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2008. For the decade, there were many changes, both external and internal, but the primary goal of the centre has been the same - to help people find peace of mind, to teach them to live according to Christian and human values, to conduct a healthy way of life and to bear responsibility for their acts.
"Salvation" Rehabilitation Center has been publicly recognized by a Letter of gratitude from the Government of Sverdlovsk Region.
"Salvation" Rehabilitation Center is presently an active member of the "Social Activity and Civil Initiatives Union" and a member of the Public Commission for Struggle Against Corruption.
Social Rehabilitation:
For work time of our organization, 1470 persons have applied to "Salvation" center for help, 380 persons have successfully completed the rehabilitation, have returned by a normal life without drugs and alcohol, and are socially useful citizens of Russia (data for August, 2008). There are 62 families created by those who finished rehabilitation and many of them have got children (data for August, 2008).
The rehabilitation services are organized on Biblical principles. Our organization closely cooperates with evangelical churches. The center's employees, along with ministers, conduct daily Bible lessons for patients.
Our particular method of social rehabilitation for chemical dependent people has evolved over time into its present form. One very important principle for highly effective rehabilitation is work therapy. Through it, the client is renewed not only spiritually, but also physically. At any given time, between 50 and 80 persons 16 to 65 years of age are on rehabilitation.
Adaptation to Society:
After completing a 9-month rehabilitation course, the client enters the adaptation program where, within a 3 to 6 month period, he/she learns to function in a healthy manner in society.
The adaptation period includes:
- Learning trade skills;
- Active participation in church life;
- Receiving a Bible education;
- Participating in prevention work.
Charitable Meals for the Needy:
Since 2006, our organization, together with Love of Christ Church, has been providing services for needy and unprotected members of society.
We organize charitable meals twice weekly for, simultaneously, 20 to 35 persons. We conduct advisory conversations, assist with employment, offer basic medical-sanitary services and hold Bible lessons. 167 persons have approached us for help already.
Working with this category of people is very difficult. But, despite the difficulty, God is restoring these people whom society has rejected. We have already seen positive results.
Every Tuesday and Friday
It is possible to come, receive a hot dinner, listen to the sermon, and pray.
Every Saturday Breakfast, the advisory services, medical aid and sanitary service.
Cooperation with city social agencies has enabled us to make a job placement agency for this category of citizens. A database is being built with these people's information.
Goals:
1. Creation of mobile food bank.
2. Building an overnight shelter.
3. Organization of an office for advisory help.
Preventive lectures and campaigns for youth:
We created an initiative group of young people who carry out prevention work in different cities of the Sverdlovsk area.
We do campaigns in a form of a dialog with the audience, or a talk-show, with relevant context videos and songs as well as with participants bringing their testimonies of how they combated their addiction.
Our campaigns are intended and expected to produce among the youth a preventive effect in terms of drug/alcohol addiction and HIV/AIDS. For the period from 2006 to 2009, about 5000 young people have visited our campaigns.
Read more about preventive work.
Training of volunteers:
Since 2005, our organization has been implementing volunteer-training projects. As of today, more than 90 persons have been trained.
Also, in 2007 the project called "Transform" started. Groups of young people come to take part in different social projects and services.
In 2007 we had a group of 7 British boys and girls who spent 4 months in Asbest helping in the rehabilitation centre.
We plan to continue cooperative efforts with volunteers from other countries as a way to exchange social and God-serving experience.
